Dr.
Smilanich received his DDS from the University of Minnesota in 1983 and
maintains a private practice whose primary focus is aesthetic and
functional oral rehabilitation in River Falls, Wisconsin.
For
over 21 years he has successfully restored thousands of implants and in
1992 he became one of the first doctors to be accredited by the Academy
of Osseointegration.
A nationally renowned educator, he has
presented numerous seminars and lectures on advanced prosthetic
reconstructive technique, aesthetic implant rehabilitation, computer
assisted implant prosthetic design, as well as the behavioral side of
implant case acceptance and case closure.
His work with
prosthetic systems including immediate fixed provisionalization,
implant treatment sequencing, and innovative framework design has been
published and shared with colleagues in didactic lecture as well as
hands on and residency formats.
Dr. Smilanich serves as a
consultant to biomedical companies and laboratories and continues to
contribute to many new innovations in prosthetic implant
rehabilitation. He maintains a senior faculty position at the Institute
for Advanced Dental Education in Lake Elmo, Minnesota.
